As there is a fear of second wave of Novel Coronavirus in India and several measures are enforced by the Government to break the chain of infection. On Sunday, Ministry of Railways announced that wearing a mask on face is compulsory in railway premises, anyone found without mask will have to pay a fine of Rs 500.

The Railways announced this protocal in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time.

The very first guideline is to wear a face mask/cover in order to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The official Gazzette for this Commercial Circular no. 76 of 2012 dated 14.12.2012 regarding enforcement of Indian Railways (Penalties for activities affecting cleanliness at railway premises) Rules 2012 vide Gazette Notification No. GSR 846 (E) Date 26.11.2012 Vide para 3 (1) (b) of the said Gazette Notification.

Hygiene activities are also maintained by the railways to protect the passengers from the infection, is is also stated that spitting is also prohibited in Railways.
