The Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh is home to many attractions, Lahaul and Spiti are of course, some of its most stunning and offbeat regions.

Both areas will be closed to travellers for about six months a year during the winter months. Now, with the opening of the Atal Tunnel, one can visit both Lahaul and Spiti throughout the year.

While the Atal Tunnel has made commuting easier for both commuters and locals, it has also encouraged hyper-tourism. Now, to regulate this, the authorities have decided to levy a tax on the vehicles entering the area. The same payment will have to be made in Sisu of Lahaul.
