India's leading low-cost carrier GoFirst prevoiusly known as GoAir achieved a milestone in Jammu and Kashmir on yesterday by becoming the first airline to launch direct international connections and direct international cargo operations from Srinagar to Sharjah.

Operated by Airbus A320neo, the first Go First flight G8 1595 departed from Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar at 18:00 and reached Sharjah at 21:00.

The inaugural flight was flagged off by Hon'ble Home Minister, Hon'ble Shri Amit Shah from Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar with full complement of passengers in the presence of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and other dignitaries at the time of take-off.

Hon'ble Civil Aviation Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia has made his presence known through an online presence from New Delhi.

The launch of direct flights to Sharjah will boost trade and tourism between Srinagar and the UAE. Under the early bird offer, travelers can book flights to Sharjah for just Rs.5000.
