Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) as well as state-wise municipal authorities have updated several guidelines for international travelers, if you are traveling from UAE, and federal guidelines as well as those from any specific state. It is important to be aware- wise quarantine and testing rules that you may need to follow.

On January 7, 2022, MOCA announced new guidelines, which will be effective from January 11, 2022. Separate guidelines were issued for at-risk countries and all other countries which were not in the list issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) on January 7, 2022. The United Arab Emirates is not on the list of these at-risk countries.

Guidelines for travelers coming to India from UAE:

1. Negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test result, a test taken within 72 hours of the departure time of your flight.

2. Fill the Self-Declaration Form (SDF) and upload the negative PCR test result on Air Suvidha Portal - https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration.

3. Download Aarogya Setu App, an app for COVID-19 contact-tracing and self-assessment

4. Will have to undergo thermal screening (this is for all passengers) on arrival at the airport. Passengers found to be symptomatic during the screening will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility as per health protocols. If tested positive, their contacts will be identified and managed as per the prescribed protocol.

5. 2% of passengers to undergo testing – Two per cent of all passengers arriving from countries that are not on the risk list will undergo testing upon arrival at an airport at random. The details of the cost of PCR tests at each airport are given below.

6. Seven Days Home Quarantine, Re-testing on Day Eighth - All passengers (including two per cent who were selected for random test on arrival and found negative) will undergo home quarantine for seven days and undergo RT-PCR test on Day 8. day of arrival in india

7. Continue health monitoring for another seven days – If the 8 day test result is negative, travelers will have to continue self-monitoring of their health for the next seven days.

Delhi Travel Guidelines

Travellers from UAE are requested to have clean RT-PCR to travel to Delhi and also undergo Rapid Test or RT PCT at their own cost.

The cost of PCR tests at Delhi airport is as follows:

RT PCR Test – INR 500
Rapid PCR test - INR 2,900

Mumbai Travel Guidelines

On January 16, 2022, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai issued new guidelines for international travelers arriving from the United Arab Emirates.

Starting from January 17, 2022, passengers arriving from the UAE will not be required to undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantineThere may be further tests on arrival of the passengers, with officials saying that two per cent of all incoming passengers will be randomly selected for PCR testing at the airport.

The cost of PCR tests at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is as follows:

RT PCR Test – INR 500 
Rapid PCR test - INR 1,975

Bengaluru Travel Guidelines

All passengers traveling to Bengaluru will have to download the Aarogya Setu App, Quarantine Watch App and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport App on their mobile devices.

Passengers arriving from countries other than the countries at risk will be allowed out of the airport. Random testing will be done at the airport on arrival of two per cent passengers. Such passengers will be taken to the testing area by the respective airlines on arrival. The cost of testing such passengers will be borne by the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

The website also states that, with effect from January 11, 2022, all passengers will be required to undergo home quarantine for seven days and undergo RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arrival.

Kolkata Travel Guidelines

All passengers, irrespective of origin or vaccination status, will have to mandatorily undergo COVID 19 test on arrival in West Bengal. Children under the age of five are exempted from testing on arrival.
