Following the success of booster programs and vaccinations, the United Kingdom has announced the removal of all testing requirements to be fully immunized. According to reports, the new rule will come into effect from February 11 2022.

Fully vaccinated passengers will only need to fill up the Passenger Locator Form (PLF), which will be simplified, confirming their vaccination status, contact details, travel history and will have people to fill it up before travelling.

Unvaccinateds must undergo pre-departure testing and PCR testing on or before the second day after arrival in the United Kingdom. For inward travel, all people under the age of 18 years, regardless of their individual vaccination status, will continue to be treated as fully vaccinated.

The government goes a step further to reopen the travel sector. The latest announcement is expected to provide a permanent solution to the disruption that COVID-19 has caused in tourism and business in the United Kingdom.

UK will also add 16 more countries and territories, including Mexico and China, to the list of recognized vaccine certifications. With this, the total number of recognized vaccine certificates will increase to 180. Note, the above list includes all South Asian countries.
