Indian aviation industry is growing at a rapid pace and India has inaugurated 74 minor and major airports in the last 9 years. Of these, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi has managed to grab headlines, with its capacity increasing day by day.

IGIA may soon become the largest airport in the world and with the massive expansion of the airport, it will certainly become the largest airport in the world, surpassing even Atlanta Airport in terms of passenger capacity.

Delhi airport serves 70 million passengers, which is likely to go up to 109 million by the end of this year. It is the only Indian airport with three runways, and the fourth is likely to become operational in September.

India will need 1200 aircraft in the next 5 years, states that the capacity of 400 aircraft in 2013 has increased to 700 today and the number will increase to 1200 in the next 5 years.

Last-mile connectivity is also very important, and they are focusing more on 20-seater aircraft and other smaller sized aircraft to connect more isolated areas of the country.
