Maharashtra government has announced the launch of an exciting new adventure tourism policy that will cover 25 activities including land, air and water.

The cabinet chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved the policy that will channelize adventure tourism. More than 25 different adventure activities will be covered under the new policy including paragliding, trekking, water rappelling, river rafting, biking, rock climbing, scuba diving.

State Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray said, "Safety being the priority, adventure tourism organizers will need to be vigilant as per the provisions mentioned in the policy regarding the safety of tourists. Norms for trained and experienced trainers, quality, and standardized equipment will be laid down. State level committees and divisional level committees will be constituted for effective implementation of adventure tourism policy. These committees will consist of experts in land, air and water tourism."

The new policy will take care of registration, regulation, monitoring, planning, promotion and training of organizers along with promotion of adventure activities.

The organizers of adventure tourism in the state will be given a provisional registration certificate from the Directorate of Tourism (DOT). As per the policy, they will also get the final registration certificate after getting all the required equipment.

The government has estimated that this will boost the tourism sector and will also increase the interest of tourists in the state.
