Reports say there are broadly two reasons behind countries banning Indian travellers. One, the covid-19 status of the country for which it can roll back additional restrictions.

Likely, Philippines imposed a lockdown in the Manila capital region on Friday. The extension of the travel ban is part of the country's restrictive measures.

Second, the spread of the delta version of coronavirus. The delta variant is the latest cause for concern and the US health authority has said that the delta variant is as easily spread as chickenpox. Since the variant was first detected in India, some countries may be apprehensive about Indian travelers.

The Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan recently informed the Parliament that the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Netherlands have relaxed restrictions for Indian students.

As of now, travel restrictions for Indian students have been eased by countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Georgia, and more countries are expected to introduce travel in the future, the minister said.
