Saudi Arabia has finally decided to allow vaccinated foreign travellers to visit Mecca to perform Umrah. The pilgrimage can be done at any time of the year.

About 18 months ago Saudi Arabia closed its borders because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, the state has started accepting travel requests for Umrah from August 1, 2021.

Saudi Arabia is also allowing travellers to be fully vaccinated. Currently, the Kingdom recognizes Pfizer/BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Meanwhile, quarantine also cannot be ruled out. Foreign visitors will also have to undergo quarantine if necessary. It is also clearly mentioned that only those pilgrims who have been duly vaccinated with the coronavirus vaccine.

This year Saudi Arabia allowed only 60,000 vaccinated residents to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
