Qatar's Hamad International Airport in Doha has won the coveted title of World's Best Airport at the Skytrax Annual World Airport Awards.

For eight consecutive years, Singapore's Changi Airport was stripped of the title by Doha's Hamad Airport and then Tokyo's Haneda Airport. In 2020, Hamad Airport was ranked third in the world, but during the pandemic, the airport showed its best side.

Edward Plastid of Skytrax said in a statement, "As travel hubs worldwide have been impacted by the pandemic, Hamad International Airport was undeterred by the global travel disruptions and continued with its expansion plans while introducing additional airport health and safety standards."

Changi Airport won the title of Best Airport Staff in the World and Best Airport Staff in Asia. During the event, Skytrax also spoke about the achievements of Istanbul Airport. Last year the airport was ranked 102nd but this year surprisingly Istanbul was ranked 17th, which was the best airport in the world.

Now Doha is set to host the most prestigious sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, in 2022. Ahead of the event, many new changes are also happening in the airport. According to reports, its annual capacity will be increased to 53 million passengers.
