As the Expo 2020 World's Fair season in Dubai next month begins, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday cut the number of places where face masks are to be worn as official after coronavirus case numbers decline.

Also two-metre distance rule allows masks to be removed in public places, on beaches and by pools, in hair salons and when treating in medical centres.

The change comes after the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, a steady decrease in daily cases reported since early July.

Local authorities should display signs where mask removal is permitted.

Dubai, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, opens the Expo 2020 World Fair on October 1, which it expects to attract 25 million domestic and foreign visitors.

Everyone attending the expo who is over the age of 18 must be vaccinated against the coronavirus or test negative to enter. Expo 2020 Dubai will run for 182 days starting from October 1, 2021 till March 31, 2022.

Tickets can be purchased on www.tripxoxo.com/dubai-expo/

Visitors to the event will now be required to provide vaccination certificates or be tested to enter the event, under new rules that organizers said did not require inoculation.
