Countries like the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and France are bearing the brunt of this new COVID-19 variant ie; Omicron and are, therefore, implementing new rules to do greater damage control.
New omicron cases show that infections in the United States increased nearly 1.6-fold in the past three days, while cases in India more than doubled. France, on the other hand, went from reporting 67,000 cases to 3.32 lakh cases between January 3 and January 5 which is very dangerous figure.
It is easier to travel to the UK than the US
While United States has now lifted all travel restrictions imposed on South African countries - has decided to only allow vaccinated people into the country. All international passengers, including those traveling from India, are now required to get tested within a day of taking off.
Instead of making travel difficult, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided to remove pre-arrival COVID-19 tests for foreign travelers, this means a person will not need to have a negative COVID-19 test to travel to the UK.
The British government is also raising the need for international passengers, including those flying from India, to self-isolate until a negative PCR test result is obtained upon arrival in England.
France bans non-essential travel
France has banned all non-essential travel, regardless of the person's vaccination status. Only French citizens as well as residents of France can visit the country. The French Interior Ministry also confirmed that British citizens living in the EU are allowed to travel from France to the UK to return to their homes.
