Uttar Pradesh's first tabletop airport will soon be inaugurated in Chitrakoot. Built at a cost of 146 crores, it will become Bundelkhand's first operational airport and will be managed by the Airports Authority of India.

Sources says that after obtaining the license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a 20-seater aircraft will also start flying from here under the UDAN scheme.

Tabletop runways is a runway situated on top of a hill or plateau, with either or one of its ends adjacent to a steep cliff falling into a deep gorge.

Already, Ropeway in Chitrakoot has been the center of attraction for tourists visiting here since September 2019, as people now get to Chitrakoot by air and road via Bundelkhand Expressway and Chitrakoot is considered the holy land where, according to legends, Lord Rama spent most of his exile time (about 11 years) at Chitrakoot. It is situated on the Vindhya hills, and has been attracting tourists from all over the world for its history and beauty.

Chitrakoot is famous for many tourist places like Kamadgiri Parvat, Gupt Godavari, Ganeshbagh, Bharatkup, Sati Anusuiya Ashram, Dharkudi, Rajapur, Ramghat, Jankikund, and Bharat Milap Temple and Chitrakoot Falls, Sphatik Shila, Hanuman Dhara. Journey of Lord Rama with his brother Lakshmana and wife Sita.
