Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi has managed to surpass other airports around the world in terms of traffic in October, thus moving up the list comes to 10th rank globally.

Aviation analytics company OAG has said in its study that Delhi airport has improved from its 14th position in October 2019, which was before the pandemic.

The OAG ranking is determined by comparing the current month's scheduled airline capacity with the same month in 2019 before the pandemic. And as such, the top 10 busiest airports in the world are ranked based on their combined domestic and international capacity.

The world's busiest airport in October 2022 was Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, then Dubai Airport and then Tokyo Haneda in second and third place respectively.

OAG in its report said that compared to October 2019, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Istanbul and Delhi airports have seen an increase in the rankings.

In addition, according to the OAG study, London Heathrow Airport is ranked sixth, Chicago O'Hare International Airport is ranked seventh, and Los Angeles International Airport is ranked ninth.

According to research, the busiest international airport is Dubai International Airport, followed by Amsterdam Airport and London Heathrow Airport in that order.
