According to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday, Indian airlines carried 1.14 crore passengers in October 2022, a 10 percent increase over the previous month.

Also, domestic air traffic increased by nearly 27% to 114.07 lakh last month as compared to 89.85 lakh in the previous year. Significantly, in September 2022, the air traffic number was 103.55 lakh.

Air traffic has recently started to increase, after the coronavirus pandemic had a significant negative impact on the airline industry.

DGCA said in a official notification, "Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-October 2022 were 988.31 lakh as against 620.96 lakh during the corresponding period of the previous year, thereby registering an annual growth of 59.16 per cent and monthly growth of 26.95 per cent."
