Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister announced a slew of measures to provide relief to various sectors affected by the second wave of covid-19 pandemic.

The announced measures are intended to prepare health systems for emergency response and provide incentives for growth and employment.


A total of 17 measures amounting to INR 6,28,993 crore were announced. Eight of the 17 schemes announced here today are aimed at providing economic relief to people and businesses affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Special attention has been given to health and revitalized travel, tourism sectors.

Benefits for Travel Agencies/Tourist Guides


The centre objective of this scheme is to provide relief to the people working in the tourism sector. Under the new credit guarantee scheme for covid-affected areas, people in the tourism sector will be provided working capital/personal loans to discharge liabilities and restart businesses affected due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The scheme will cover 10,700 regional level tourist guides recognized by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourist Guides recognized by the State Governments and about 1,000 Travel and Tourism Stakeholders (TTS) recognized by the Ministry of Tourism.

Travel and Tourism Stakeholders will be eligible to get loan up to Rs. 10 lakh each while tourist guides can take loans up to Rs 1 lakh each. There will be no processing fee, waiver of foreclosure/prepayment fee, and no additional collateral requirement. Scheme to be operated by Ministry of Tourism through NCGTC.
