Thai authorities have clarified that those traveling under the Phuket sandbox will not be required to undergo quarantine. While on other hand, Thailand has reinstated mandatory quarantine for foreign travelers in view of the increasing cases of omicrons.

Those traveling under the Phuket sandbox scheme will only have to undergo a PCR test, and will have to wait at the hotel till the results are announced. If their test comes back negative, they will be allowed to roam in Phuket.

In addition, they will also have to undergo a second RT PCR test on the fifth or sixth day, after which they will be allowed to move to other parts of Thailand after completing their seven-day stay in Phuket.

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration, ordered to temporarily suspend Thailand Pass for sandbox applications and all new 'Test and Go' from December 22, 2021. However, as per reports, those traveling under the Phuket sandbox will be exempted from the quarantine.

Tourism authorities have slightly changed the entry rules for people entering the country from different entry points except Phuket.

As such, those wishing to travel to Phuket from India can register for the Thailand Pass under the Phuket Sandbox Program and Happy Quarantine. Thereafter, the TAT India team will work closely with travel trade partners to assist them with client queries and help them better serve their clients.
