A tow tractor being prepared to tow an Air India aircraft suddenly burst into flames at the Mumbai airport on Monday morning, no one was injured in this accident, as per CSMIA authorities.

The incident took place at around 10.45 am when Air India flight AI-647 was being prepared to leave for Jamnagar from Mumbai airport.

"The tow bar was being attached to the A320 aircraft when it suddenly caught fire. The pushback tug had just returned after refuelling," said a airport authorities.

Airport fire services were dispatched to the spot instantly. The source said the plane, which was parked a few feet away from the burning vehicle, was not damaged anywhere because of the fire.

The Jamnagar flight departed about 20 minutes behind schedule. A statement from the airline and airport is awaited.
